Palace Green Library – Durham University
Project in detail
TS Booker worked closely with Miller construction, the Architect and the University to develop an environment that complimented the existing features of the building. The project included the design and development of all the Fitted Bookcases, complementary Computer tables and Library issue desk.
TS Booker worked closely with the Architect and produced a number of samples prior to manufacturing the final scheme.
TS Booker manufactured the furniture using solid American White Oak and Solid American Black Walnut with feature etched glass panels and matching laminate surfaces.
In addition to the furniture TS Booker also supplied and installed the bespoke Solid Grade laminate ceiling panels that were an additional key feature in the scheme. The panel installation had to be carefully co-ordinated with the lighting design.
When the project was completed one of the First exhibitions in the Library was the Lindisfarne Gospels.
Palace Green Library now houses Durham University’s archives, early printed books and other special collections.
