This project involved TS Booker liasing with the clients consultant and manufacturing, supplying and installing the laboratory furniture, gas taps, and water taps, sinks and waste fittings. The design included four straight island benches with sliding door storage, perimeter storage benching with Trespa worktops gas taps, fire-clay sinks and water taps, one demonstration bench that included a facility for a computer workstation and approximately five metres of tall storage with internal storage trays and adjustable shelves.
Consultation with the science teacher at this school resulted in an order being placed for two laboratories that included these special island units.
TS Booker listened to the schools requirements and developed a scheme that not only answered the brief but also met their budget. The island units included underbench storage, special areas for the pupils books, gas, electric and water services and plenty of unhindered kneespace.
The service pedestal & laboratory tables are an extremely popular method of furnishing a science laboratory. This type of solution offers full flexibility that can be manufactured to suit the schools requirements. The service pedestals are manufactured in a range of sizes to suit the room size and potential layout. They are available with any combination of gas, water, and electrical services and a comprehensive range of colours.
The tables can be repositioned to create many different layouts that would suit many different teaching styles.
The 1200 x 600 x 850h service pedestal can be supplied with two, three, four, five or six tables around. The flexibility of this product means that it is utilised in most science laboratories. Fire-clay sinks with water taps can also be fitted and used in conjunction with a mobile teacher's desk as a demonstration bench.
The pedestal and table worktops are manufactured to suit the client requirements. We offer a range of hardwood lipped laminate-faced worktops, Trespa athlon worktops or Solid Iroko hardwood.
When designing science laboratories particular care is taken to ensure that the distances between the workbenches is kept within the recommended distances as issued by the British standard BS3202 part 3.
Our designers also ensure that the pupils have sufficient kneespace and worktop area to undertake both written and practical work. The position of the water taps, gas taps and electrical sockets are all considered at the design stage, pupils do not have to stretch to reach the valves and switches.
