Worktop Heights
In December 2006 the new European standard BS EN 1729 was introduced for furniture in schools. This standard lists the dimensional requirements for tables and chairs that are suitable for varying age ranges of school children.
The old standard BS 5873 was based on data from the 1970's, the new BS EN 1729 standard is based on research undertaken by FIRA's 2001 survey of school children. This new standard encourages furniture manufacturers to offer products that are the correct height.
Currently this is not mandatory but everyone involved in the provision of furniture for children should be considering this new BS EN 1729 standard. TS Booker can therefore confirm that we offer a full range of bench heights that compliment the table heights listed in BS EN 1729.
